About Product

Product Description:

Dymista contains 2 active substances: azelastine hydrochloride and fluticasone propionate:

  • Azelastine hydrochloride belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines.

  • Antihistamines work by preventing the effects of substances such as e.g. Histamine that the body produces as part of an allergic reaction - and thus reduces the symptoms of allergic rhinitis .

  • Fluticasone propionate belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids that reduce inflammation.

  • Dymista is used for symptom relief in moderate to severe seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis if the use of either intranasal antihistamine or corticosteroid alone is not considered sufficient.

  • Seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis are allergic reactions to substances such as pollen (hay fever), house mites, mould, dust or pets.

  • Dymista relieves allergy symptoms such as: runny nose, postnasal drip (mucus in the throat), sneezing and itchy nose or stuffy nose.

  • Exhale through the mouth.

  • In the aforementioned cases, your doctor will decide whether you can use Dymista.

  • It is important that you take your dose as described in point 3 below or as your doctor has told you.

  • Treatment with doses higher than recommended doses of nasal corticosteroids can lead to adrenal suppression, a condition that can cause weight loss, fatigue, muscle weakness, low blood sugar , salt cravings, joint pain, depression and darkening of the skin.

  • If this occurs, your doctor may recommend other medicines during periods of stress or planned surgical operations.

  • To avoid adrenal suppression, your doctor will advise that you take the lowest effective dose to get good control of your rhinitis symptoms.

  • Taking nasal corticosteroids (such as Dymista) over a long period of time can cause growth retardation in children and adolescents.

  • The doctor will check your child's height regularly and make sure he or she is taking the lowest effective dose.
